WHAT IS AN MC-CERTIFICATE?

An MC-Certificate is a Federal Document attesting to your compliance with FMCSR 366 and FMCSR 387 of the Code of Federal Regulations Title 49.

This document certifies that said MC Number is valid and belongs to the listed Motor Carrier in compliance with all insurance and process agent requirements that have been met.
The MC# Certificates are processed by the Federal Applications Processor. There is a one-day processing to obtain the MC# Certificate by email (or 7-10 days by mail).

An MC Certificate is issued to a Motor Carrier upon establishment of an Operating Authority. It is the Motor Carrier's responsibility to secure copies of the MC Certificate on file and in all of vehicles operating under the carrier's authority.

MC CERTIFICATE PURPOSE

The MC# Certificate, should be kept on file and in all vehicles operating under the Motor Carrier's Authority (MC#). One of the most important uses for the MC Certificate is when receiving cargo. At any time however, a broker or a freight-forwarder may request you to procure a copy of the certificate in order to prove a sufficient insurance coverage on the authority. Additionally, your insurance agent may also request it in order to insure your authority. Finally, since the MC Certificate never expires, you may want to have a copy in your power units as well as the company headquarters as a tangible proof of the MC#.

Unified Carrier Registration

The Unified Carrier Registration UCR for interstate motor carriers portal opens on OCTOBER 1 and can be filed online with the Federal Applications Processor.
